About That Swamp

In another maddening, yet unsurprising move, President Trump has further polluted the swamp by appointing Dr. Scott Gottlieb – a major recipient of opioid industry dollars – to head the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Kind of renders Trump’s commission to address the opioid epidemic a bit hollow. Yet again, the interests of big donors trump (pun intended) the needs of distressed, heartland whites – the main people addicted to opioids – who put The Donald in office.

Meanwhile, in response to Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad’s alleged chemical attack on Idlib, Trump’s approach toward Syria and Assad – which was previously hands-off – has “changed very much.” (HT: Occidental Dissent) As someone who rose to power in part by bashing Dubya’s neocon-inspired foreign policy, Trump may end up giving the Bill Kristols of the world what they want.

So much for “draining the swamp.”

It’s sad but it looks like Trump is not going to deliver the radical reforms that America needs to cure itself. Healthcare will still suck. Education will still suck. The banking industry will get whatever it wants. Military intervention looks set to continue (although I do have questions has to whether or not Assad actually committed that attack, but Trump’s reaction told me he has already made his mind up)

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I think you’ve been right all along BAG about Trump’s true intentions. He simply found the gap in the market for a populist ‘America first’ candidate and filled it to enrich himself. That’s simply what businessmen do.

Yup. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from studying economics, it’s not to trust businessmen.

Have your alt right friends deserted him? They’re the one’s who will be most adversely affected by the ISP bill. It will be much more damning to have that in your browser history.

My heart really breaks for his supporters, who carried water for him, even those who want to kill me.
