What even constitutes “racism” anymore? The word has been abused to the point of being rendered hackneyed, and still very few people actually take the time to reflect on what the word means. Dota and I subscribe to the classic definition of racism, which is espousing beliefs in the inherent superiority or inferiority of different groups of people, and assigning hierarchies based on these biological differences. However, thanks to university style leftism, this classic definition has been tossed aside in favor of a sociological definition of racism. What is this definition? In a nutshell, leftists believe that racism = prejudice + power. Therefore, since whites comprise the majority of congress, corporate executives, and other prominent institutions, then that automatically amounts to racism. Since only whites can be racist by that definition, then any manifestation of prejudice on a white person’s part, whether it’s telling an innocuous joke, subscribing to a stereotype about a given group, or refusing to associate with black people, is racism.
But do power disparities and prejudice alone really amount to racism? A look at the historical record would indicate otherwise. For example, the Arab primary sources on the Crusades that I’m reading are rife with negative descriptions of Europeans, including the occasional “blue-eyed infidel” insult. So, there are negative physical descriptions of a different group, combined with Arab Muslim chauvinist beliefs. Clear example of racism, right? Wrong, because there is not a single example of those Arabs suggesting that Europeans were inherently inferior or less human on account of their birth. Another example of how ethnic prejudice and discrimination don’t necessarily equal racism is the Yuan Dynasty (ie. Mongol rule) of China. When the Mongols gained controlled of China, they implemented a social hierarchy that placed Mongols at the top, Semu (or “people with colored eyes,” primarily Central Asians and Europeans) below, and then the native Han Chinese at the very bottom. When Marco Polo visited China, he enjoyed a higher position within the hierarchy than the vast majority of China’s population. Clearly, this is a manifestation of hierarchical racism! Except again, the Mongols did not endorse any beliefs postulating the inherent superiority or inferiority of those respective groups. In fact, their hierarchy was tied to their specific conquest of China. Since the Mongols first conquered and successfully subjugated the Northern Chinese before finally conquering Southern China, Northern Chinese enjoyed greater position within the hierarchy than Southern Chinese, since the Southerners had not been subjugated for as long, and thus were less trustworthy.
Most of what the left complains about “racism” in today’s Western world is a combination of prejudice, majoritarianism, and standard xenophobia. What do I mean by majoritarianism? Well, since whites have historically been the large majorities of both the United States and Canada, then it makes sense that they wield most of the power and determine the social norms of both countries. As much as leftists like to complain about the “normalization” of whiteness or how whites are seen as “standard,” this “normalization” has always been the historical norm, as the majority group will almost always set the pace when it comes to the development of societies. As Razib Khan once pointed out, both the Roman and Ottoman Empires were multiracial, multiethnic, and multireligious, and yet there was never any doubt that the Romans and Turkish Muslims were the dominant core of those respective empires. Even powerful minorities such as the Manchu overlords of China’s Qing Dynasty underwent a significant degree of assimilation into Han Chinese culture.
True racism has been dead within mainstream North America for quite some time. Aside from a few HBD bloggers, neo-nazis, and fringe alternative right publications, there are very few prominent voices who endorse genuine racism. Those who do are subjected to harsh media scrutiny. Just ask famed biologist James Watson. Therefore, accusations of racism and racial supremacy should not be made lightly. So with that in mind, what does a genuinely racist or supremacist society look like? While examples of such societies abound in the third world, I’ve decided to highlight a developed, technologically advanced country that frequently seeks to advertise its progressive Western credentials.
That country would be Israel! Rest assured, I am not about to go on some overused white nationalist diatribe about how Jews hypocritically support multiculturalism in the West while simultaneously upholding ethnocracy in Israel. Kevin MacDonald and many others have already tirelessly documented such inconsistency. Rather, Israel is a perfect demonstration of a society that practices racism in the strictest sense of the word.
What are some examples that demonstrate that Israel is racist, as opposed to just plain prejudiced and xenophobic? Well, just recently, hundreds of thousands of Israeli Jews attended the funeral of controversial Sephardic Jewish religious leader Ovadia Yosef. Among his many other gems, Yosef had the following to say about the inherent value of non-Jews:
“Goyim were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world – only to serve the People of Israel…Why are gentiles needed? They will work, they will plow, they will reap. We will sit like an effendi (lord or master) and eat. That is why gentiles were created.”
He reserved some special vitriol for Palestinians in particular, as well as Arabs as a whole:
“All these evil people should perish from this world. God should strike them with a plague, them and these Palestinians…It is forbidden to be merciful to them. You must send missiles to them and annihilate them. They are evil and damnable.”
Yup, one of the most hallowed figures in Israeli society was a genocidal bigot, who even received an endorsement from New York Democratic mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio, who among other things lauded Yosef’s “sensitivity.”
Nor is Yosef alone when it comes to Israeli mainstream politicians and figures endorsing blatant racism. Israel’s current prime minister Bibi Netanyahu once bragged that as finance minister, his policies of cutting child subsidies resulted in a reduction of Palestinian birthrates within Israel. Recently, black African migrants have become the newest target of Israeli Jewish venom, and have lately been subjected to the same invective and “demographic threat” rhetoric that Palestinians know all too well.
In North America, individuals who espoused such bigotry would be shunned, demonized, and placed on the SPLC’s hate list. In Israel and most non-Western countries, such individuals are heads of major political parties. Keep that in mind the next time some college leftist treats the West as the supreme embodiment of oppression and racial supremacy.
Update: As if you needed any further evidence of Israel’s fundamentally supremacist society, the Israeli Supreme Court just trashed a proposal to recognize an Israeli nationality. Historically, Israel has defined nationality by ethnic background, with Israel defining itself as a nation for all Jews. It’s crazy to think about, but Israel is probably the only country in the world that doesn’t recognize its own nationality.
